The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation has confirmed the 15 September 2025 closing time for the 2026 intake.

About the Organisation
The Foundation was established to support Southern African youth with entrepreneurial potential.
It funds academically strong Grade 6 students to attend top partner high schools and cultivates leadership, innovation, and community impact.
Fields of Study Funded
This scholarship is for learners who are currently in Grade 6 in 2025 and will enter Grade 8 in 2026.
It applies only to placement in partner high schools offering high-quality academic and entrepreneurial programmes.
Benefits for Recipients
Awarded scholars receive full coverage of:
- Tuition fees and boarding
- Textbooks, stationery, uniforms, casual clothing, toiletries
- Support for extracurriculars and a monthly allowance
Additional resources include mentorship, workshops, conferences, and an annual entrepreneurial conference.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the following:
- Be a South African citizen (at least one parent must also carry SA citizenship)
- Be aged 11 or 12 in Grade 6 (born in 2013 or 2014)
- Achieve at least 70 % for English and Mathematics, and a 70 % overall average in Grades 5 and 6
- Household income must not exceed R20,000 per month
- Demonstrate financial need and interest in entrepreneurship
Scholars must exhibit entrepreneurial qualities such as curiosity, leadership, problem-solving, and a growth mindset.

- Include all required documents listed below. Only complete applications before the deadline will be considered.
Required Documents
Include certified copies of:
- Unabridged birth certificate
- Grade 5 Term 4 report and Grade 6 Term 2 report
- Parent/guardian ID documents
- Proof of household income (e.g., payslips, tax returns, affidavit, or pension statement)
- If applicable: death certificate, legal guardianship proof, or divorce decree
Incomplete or uncertified documents may cause disqualification.
Selection Process
- Successful applicants will write the Foundation’s English and Maths assessment in December 2025.
- Shortlisted candidates will attend interviews in early 2026.
- Recommended students are sent to placement schools for final interviews.
- Final scholars are selected in May 2026, followed by the signing of scholarship agreements.
Closing Date
The official deadline for 2026 has not yet been confirmed, but the 2025 deadline of 15 September 2025 by 17:00 SAST is the best reference.
Do not rely on old dates; submit only when the 2026 application opens.
