About the Amandla Omoya Trust

The Amandla Omoya Trust was formed in 2012. 

It receives income from ownership in the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm and invests in community development for residents within a 50 km radius, including Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Hankey, Patensie, Loerie, Weston, and Thornhill.

Fields of Study Funded

This bursary supports South African students studying any field at recognised South African tertiary or training institutions.

Eligible qualifications include:

  • NQF Level 6 technical or skills training (e.g., plumbing, bricklaying)
  • National diplomas and undergraduate degree programmes
    Funding is offered across fields as long as you meet residency criteria.

Benefits for Recipients

Recipients receive financial support tailored to their needs. The bursary may cover:

  • Tuition, registration, and examination fees
  • Study materials such as textbooks
  • Accommodation and meals at a tertiary residence
    The total bursary value is determined individually based on need.

Eligibility Criteria 

You must meet all of the following:

  • South African citizen
  • Reside within a 50 km radius of the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm area (e.g., Humansdorp, Jeffreys Bay, Hankey, Patensie, Loerie, Thornhill)
  • Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • Accepted at or enrolled in a recognised South African institution (TVET, university of technology, or university) for an NQF Level 6 qualification, national diploma, or degree
  • Demonstrate genuine financial need
    Applications failing any of these will not be considered.

How to Apply

  1. Apply online via the StudyTrust bursary platform between 1 May and 31 October. Complete the form fully.
  2. Alternatively, submit a hardcopy application form to [email protected].
  3. When asked “Where did you hear about bursaries?”, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
  4. Only correctly completed applications with documents will qualify for consideration.

Required Documents

Attach clear, certified copies of:

  • South African ID document or birth certificate
  • Matric certificate or latest results
  • Latest academic results if already at tertiary level
  • Proof of acceptance or registration from your tertiary institution (letterhead)
  • Proof of residence within 50 km radius (e.g., utility bill or affidavit)
  • Proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, grant proof, or pension slips)
    Incomplete or uncertified documents may result in disqualification.

Closing Date

Applications must reach StudyTrust by 31 October 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
