A learnership has two halves: the theory you study and the workplace practice you are assessed on. The theory half moves online easily. The workplace half rarely does, which is why a programme advertised as fully online is usually blended: online classes, with tasks you do for a real employer. Knowing that difference saves you from applying for something that does not exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can and cannot be done from home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Trades, mining, pharmacy, retail floor work<\/td>No. These are assessed on site, and an advert claiming otherwise is a warning sign.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

What a remote learnership pays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The allowance does not change because you study at home. The same legal minimum applies, set out in the February 2026 national minimum wage notice<\/a> and explained on our learnerships homepage<\/a>. Providers in digital and financial skills often advertise more than the minimum, and some cover data.<\/p>\n\n\n
