Truworths does something unusual: it keeps its learnerships off the main careers site entirely, on a portal built only for them. That portal sorts places by province and shows how many are open in each, which makes it the rare case where you can tell at a glance whether it is worth applying today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How the portal works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open the Truworths learnership portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Look at the province list. Each province shows a number in brackets, which is how many learnership places are currently advertised there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. If your province shows zero, nothing is open there yet. Check another province only if you could genuinely work there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Open the advert for your province and note the reference number, which changes by province and by round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Apply through the portal using that reference. An application without the right reference goes to the wrong pool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Because the counts update as rounds open and close, this portal is worth a monthly visit rather than a single desperate check in January.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    Grade 10, and what it does and does not mean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The stores learnership sets its academic bar at Grade 10, which is lower than almost anything else in this section. That is deliberate: the retailer is selecting for how you deal with people, not for how you did in Mathematics. It does not mean the programme is easy, and it does not mean everyone gets in. Applicants who are shortlisted tend to be the ones who can talk about fashion, about handling a difficult customer, or about any work, including informal work, where they were trusted with money or stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Places set aside for people with disabilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Recent Truworths rounds have been aimed specifically at people living with disabilities, as part of the group’s employment equity commitments. If that applies to you, say so in the application and be ready to supply medical proof of disability, because these places are ring-fenced and the competition for them is lower than for open rounds. If it does not apply to you, read the advert before applying, because some rounds are for these places only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Truworths sets a minimum of 120 hours of work exposure inside the programme. Cross-trained simply means you are not left on one till for a year: the qualification requires evidence from each area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
