On the SRD website

Go to srd.sassa.gov.za on your phone or computer.

Scroll to the section for checking your application status.

Enter your 13-digit South African ID number, or your permit or passport number if you applied with one.

Enter the cellphone number you used when you applied. SASSA sends status information only to that number.

Submit. A list of months appears, each with its own outcome and, where approved, a pay date.

2. On WhatsApp

Save 082 046 8553 as a contact, send the word “Status”, and follow the prompts with your ID number and application details.

3. By phone

Call SASSA’s toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00. Have your ID number and application cellphone number ready.

4. With the Moya app

The data-free Moya app includes a SASSA status option.
