The report outlines <strong>undue delays by SASSA in assuming direct control of grant payments<\/strong>, an <strong>ineffectively managed system under the South African Post Office<\/strong>, and the <strong>irregular appointment<\/strong> of former CEO Busisiwe Memela-Khambula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most alarming findings is that the <strong>Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Postbank<\/strong>\u2014SASSA\u2019s current grant disbursement partner\u2014is <strong>set to expire at the end of September 2026<\/strong>. With <strong>Postbank failing to meet compliance requirements set by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) since 2021<\/strong>, renewing the contract appears unlikely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cNotwithstanding the fact that SASSA is not a designated clearing system participant, it will still be responsible for the management and administration of the payment of social grants in the absence of Postbank,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This leaves SASSA with three limited options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Become a designated clearing system participant\u2014<strong>a process experts say is virtually impossible to complete in just two months<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find a new, <strong>credible and compliant service provider<\/strong> before October.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renew the agreement with Postbank, despite <strong>ongoing compliance failures and operational concerns<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Failure to secure an alternative payment solution could directly affect the <strong>2,169,371 beneficiaries<\/strong> reliant on monthly grants, including those receiving <strong>child support grants<\/strong>, <strong>disability grants<\/strong>, and <strong>older persons&#8217; grants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Democratic Alliance (DA)<\/strong> has called on <strong>SASSA, Postbank, and the SARB<\/strong> to urgently appear before Parliament and explain how grants will be distributed from October onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSouth Africans deserve answers. Millions of vulnerable citizens depend on these grants to survive,\u201d said a DA spokesperson. \u201cThis crisis needs to be resolved before it becomes a humanitarian disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In light of these <strong>potential SASSA grant payment delays<\/strong>, grant recipients are <strong>strongly advised to switch to private, reputable banks<\/strong> as their payment destination to ensure uninterrupted access to their funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the deadline looms, South Africans now await swift, transparent action from government
