If your college is not here, check its website or call a campus.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to apply to a TVET college<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Choose a programme and campus.<\/strong> Each campus specialises, so check that your campus offers the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complete the career questionnaire and placement assessment.<\/strong> The Department of Higher Education and Training&#8217;s admissions policy makes placement testing part of admission, and many colleges say it is not a pass-or-fail test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apply online<\/strong> with your ID, latest results and proof of residence. Colleges set their own rules on how recently copies must be certified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apply for NSFAS separately<\/strong> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsfas.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nsfas.org.za<\/a>. Some colleges ask for proof that you did.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Watch for an SMS or email offer and accept it in time.<\/strong> Some offers expire within days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Register<\/strong> on the dates your college gives, usually in January for the new year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DHET&#8217;s admissions policy does not allow public TVET colleges to charge an application, registration or admission fee on top of tuition. Read more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bursariesafrica.co.za\/tvet\/what-is-the-ncv\/\">the NC(V)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bursariesafrica.co.za\/tvet\/nated-engineering\/\">what replaces NATED engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Funding with NSFAS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NSFAS pays tuition at public TVET colleges for South African students from households earning up to R350,000 a year, plus allowances paid into a bank account in the student&#8217;s own name. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bursariesafrica.co.za\/tvet\/who-does-the-nsfas-fund\/\">Who NSFAS funds<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NSFAS applications for 2027 opened on 18 September 2026 and close on 31 October 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To keep funding, continuing TVET students must pass 70% of their modules and meet the subject rules for the next level.
