No private college is NSFAS-funded, even if it uses &#8220;TVET&#8221; or &#8220;FET&#8221; in its name. The practical question is whether you and your programme qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does your situation qualify?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Check<\/th><th>Requirement<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Institution<\/td><td>One of the 50 public TVET colleges<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Citizenship<\/td><td>South African citizen or permanent resident<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Income<\/td><td>Household income of R350,000 a year or less (R600,000 with a disability)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Programme<\/td><td>A DHET-approved programme: PLP, NC(V), Report 191 up to N6, or an approved occupational programme<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Previous study<\/td><td>Not already funded beyond N+1, and not a second qualification at the same level<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What NSFAS covers at a TVET college<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tuition, paid to the college.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allowances: personal care plus accommodation or transport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not a learning materials allowance, except for students with disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some occupational programmes carry no allowances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keeping your funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuing TVET students must pass at least 70% of their enrolled modules and meet subject rules: five NC(V) subjects, or three N-course subjects, per level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check that a college is public before you pay anything. Private colleges that claim to be NSFAS-funded are misleading you.
