N1 to N3 stopped taking new students on 1 January 2024, and N4 to N6 intakes are closing programme by programme. These are the requirements that applied, and what they mean for applicants in 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entry requirements for N4 to N6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Level<\/th><th>Usual requirement<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>N4 Business Studies<\/td><td>Matric, or an NC(V) Level 4 or N3 in a related field<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>N4 Engineering Studies<\/td><td>Matric with mathematics and physical science, or N3 with the relevant subjects<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>N5<\/td><td>N4 certificate or results in the same programme<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>N6<\/td><td>N5 certificate or results in the same programme<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colleges set minimum marks and subject combinations for each programme, and may refuse entry where the programme has no remaining intake.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can you still enrol?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New student, N1 to N3:<\/strong> no; these programmes closed on 1 January 2024.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>New student, N4:<\/strong> only where your college still has an intake under the teach-out. Engineering intakes end before business studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Continuing student, N5 or N6:<\/strong> usually yes during the teach-out; register as early as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternatives if intakes have closed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NC(V) programmes from Grade 9.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occupational qualifications registered with the QCTO.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Higher certificates or diplomas at universities, if you meet their requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n\n\n<div id=\"rank-math-faq\" class=\"rank-math-block\">\n<div class=\"rank-math-list \">\n<div id=\"faq-question-1789700000360\" class=\"rank-math-list-item\">\n<h3 class=\"rank-math-question \">Do I need matric for N4?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"rank-math-answer \">\n\n<p>Usually yes, or a relevant N3 or NC(V) Level 4.
