Failing mathematics does not automatically mean failing matric. The National Senior Certificate lets you fail one subject and still pass, as long as you meet the other requirements. What changes is which kind of pass you get and what you can study next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NSC pass levels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NSC pass (higher certificate study)<\/td>40% in your home language, 40% in two other subjects, 30% in three others; you may fail one subject<\/td><\/tr>
Diploma pass<\/td>40% in your home language, 40% in three other subjects excluding Life Orientation, 30% in two others, and 30% in the language of learning and teaching<\/td><\/tr>
Bachelor’s pass<\/td>40% in your home language, 50% in four subjects excluding Life Orientation, 30% in two others, and 30% in the language of learning and teaching<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
