The Department of Basic Education (DBE) does not publish a limit on how many times you may rewrite matric subjects. Anyone who wants to improve previous NSC results, and is still an NSC candidate, may register as a part-time candidate. Source: the DBE’s NSC examinations page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one change that is permanent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you convert from the National Senior Certificate (NSC) to the Senior Certificate (SC), the DBE says you may not go back to the NSC. Think carefully before choosing the SC route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The February\/March supplementary exam has been phased out. The DBE says candidates can register for the June exams to improve their results instead.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
