TVET colleges do not award teaching degrees, but some offer early childhood development programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">University options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Institution<\/th><th>Programmes<\/th><th>Campuses<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>University of the Free State<\/td><td>Four-year BEd in Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase, and Senior and FET Phase; PGCE<\/td><td>Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa (Foundation Phase at South and Qwaqwa campuses)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Central University of Technology<\/td><td>Four-year BEd, including Foundation Phase and Senior and FET specialisations such as Mathematics, Natural Science, Computer Science and Technology<\/td><td>Bloemfontein and Welkom<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Unisa (distance)<\/td><td>BEd programmes, including Foundation Phase Teaching<\/td><td>Online and distance<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Entry requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>UFS BEd: an Admission Point Score of at least 30 and 50% in the language of instruction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CUT BEd: a bachelor&#8217;s pass, and 21 weeks of work-integrated learning during the degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unisa Foundation Phase BEd: a bachelor&#8217;s pass, 50% in the language of teaching and 40% mathematics or 50% mathematical literacy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ECD at Free State TVET colleges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the DHET 2026 list, Motheo, Goldfields and Maluti TVET colleges offer the Early Childhood Development Practitioner occupational certificate.
