This guide explains <strong>UJ registration<\/strong> using the Registrar&#8217;s notice for 2026, so you know what to expect in January 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It covers registration dates, how to register online, payments, cancellations, appeals, residence rules, international student requirements, and important deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide is based on the official UJ registration notice issued by the Registrar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When Does UJ Registration Open?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UJ registration for returning undergraduate students opens on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Opening date for 2026:<\/strong> 12 January 2026 (expect a similar date in January 2027)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Closing date for 2026:<\/strong> 6 February 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mode:<\/strong> Online only (off-campus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>UJ does not allow walk-in or on-campus registration. All students must register online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, UJ could not guarantee your space if you did not register by <strong>6 February 2026<\/strong>. Check the 2027 notice for the equivalent deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you only have second-semester modules outstanding, you must still register during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Register at UJ<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete your UJ registration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uj.ac.za\/admission-aid\/registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.uj.ac.za\/admission-aid\/registration\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the step-by-step online registration guide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register for all required modules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download and check your proof of registration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You must confirm that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your qualification is correct.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All modules for the full year are correct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Only registered students may attend lectures, submit assignments, or access academic services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Important Rules for Returning Students<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Compulsory modules that you failed will automatically be added first.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students who interrupted their studies must get special permission from their faculty before registering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some qualifications are being phased out. Always check your faculty yearbook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you previously placed your studies in abeyance, you must apply for permission to return before registering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UJ Registration for Transfer Students<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are transferring from another university:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Transfer students registered in the same period as other students, which in 2026 ran from 12 January to 6 February 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Postgraduate students must submit:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full academic record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate of conduct<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Degree certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ID copy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These documents must be emailed to your faculty officer. The subject line must include your student number and qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit transfers must be approved by the academic department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UJ Registration Fees and Payments (2026 Notice)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Minimum payment to register:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Day students:<\/strong> R5 950<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Residence students (accepted):<\/strong> R9 850<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Residence students (waiting list):<\/strong> R5 950<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>International students:<\/strong> 40% upfront payment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Online card payments reflect immediately. Other methods may delay your registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the official payment link: <a href=\"https:\/\/ulink.uj.ac.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/ulink.uj.ac.za<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UJ Cancellation and Refund Rules<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Full Cancellation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For 2026: cancel on or before 25 February 2026 for a full refund (excluding the R500 ICT levy and R650 registration levy).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For 2026: cancellations after 25 February 2026 got no full refund. Check the 2027 notice for the new cut-off date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Module Cancellation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Refunds depend on when you cancel and whether the module is first semester, second semester, or year module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Late cancellation may result in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No refund<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A \u201cfail\u201d result on your academic transcript<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Always submit cancellations formally through your faculty. Telephonic cancellations are not accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Changes to Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In 2026, changes after 9 February 2026 had to go to your faculty office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adding modules is only allowed during the registration period unless approved by the HoD or Vice Dean.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failure to follow the process means you remain liable for fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Student Cards<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, you could collect your student card after registration from 12 January to 6 February 2026, between 08:00 and 15:30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You must bring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proof of registration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ID document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Replacement cards cost R150.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Appeals for Academic Exclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students excluded for academic reasons may appeal online:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Appeal period for 2026:<\/strong> 5 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
