If you are planning to study at UWC in 2027, you must understand how the university charges for registration <\/a>and tuition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UWC requires students to make a minimum upfront payment before registration, which includes the compulsory registration fee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This amount must be paid before you can complete online registration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuition fees vary depending on your degree and modules, and payments are governed by official UWC policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UWC Application Fee 2027 (No Fee Charged)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UWC does not charge an application fee. Its application information page answers the question directly: there is no application fee payable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You apply online, and the Bachelor of Dentistry and Oral Health programmes have an earlier closing date than other programmes, so check the dates for your intake on the application page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International applicants do not pay an application fee either. The costs come at registration: SADC and other African students pay their full tuition and residence fees upfront at South African citizen rates, while overseas international students pay the full amount upfront at international rates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that international students must ensure their full fee liability is settled before registration can be confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UWC Registration Fee 2027 (Initial Payment)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before you can register, UWC requires a minimum upfront payment that covers part of your tuition and includes the registration fee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This payment must be made and reflected on your student account before financial clearance is given and registration can proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 2026, South African students with a zero-balance account paid R4 290 upfront if they were not staying in university accommodation, and R4 840 if they had been placed in a university residence. Check the Student Credit Management page for the 2027 amounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The R4 290 includes the R1 810 registration fee. If you pay by EFT, the money must reach UWC at least three business days before you register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have outstanding fees from previous years, you must contact the Student Credit Management Office to arrange clearance before you can register. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Written proof of bursaries or third-party funding must be uploaded to the student financial portal to confirm coverage of costs before registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UWC does not allow registration until the required initial payment is made and cleared in your student account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UWC Tuition Fee Structure per Faculty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UWC does not publish a single flat tuition fee for all students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuition fees are charged per module within your chosen programme, and the total cost depends on the number and credit value of modules you register for in a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For undergraduate programmes, annual tuition fees for South African students fall roughly within typical ranges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • UWC’s 2026 local fee schedule lists R42 731 to R59 474 a year for programmes such as the BA (Social Work), BSc (Physiotherapy), BSc (Occupational Therapy) and BNurs, and R46 626 to R51 618 a year for the BSc and BPharm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The BChD (Dentistry) is listed at R77 101 a year for first and fifth year in the same 2026 schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Postgraduate tuition varies by qualification level and research requirements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The exact amount for your programme can be found in the official UWC Fees Booklet or requested from the Student Accounts Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Tuition fees do not include residence or other non-tuition costs such as textbooks or personal expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For South African students, 50% of the outstanding fee account is due by 30 April and the full balance by 31 July. If you settle the account in full early, UWC gives a settlement discount of 5% by 28 February, 3% by 31 March or 2% by the end of April; accounts paid by bursary organisations do not qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How to Pay Your Fees (Bank Details)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The University of the Western Cape provides official banking details for students to make electronic funds transfer (EFT) or direct bank deposit payments toward registration, tuition, and related fees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When making payments, always use your student number as the reference so the payment can be allocated correctly to your account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      UWC accepts EFTs, credit card payments through its online payment link, and postal orders or foreign drafts using these account details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Local payments can take up to two business days to reflect, and international transfers up to seven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Fees for NSFAS Funded Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      If you have approved funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), NSFAS will pay your registration and tuition fees directly to UWC once your funding is confirmed before the registration deadline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      This means that NSFAS-funded students may not need to make the upfront payment themselves if the funding documents are submitted on time and accepted by the Financial Aid Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For NSFAS students, the Financial Aid Office receives the funding confirmation from NSFAS and passes clearance instructions to Student Credit Management, and you get an SMS once you are cleared. Other bursary holders upload their documents on the Student Credit Management portal; if the bursary covers full tuition, only the R1 810 registration fee is required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If your NSFAS funding is not confirmed by the time of registration, you may be required to make the upfront payment yourself to secure your registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
