SMU is a specialised public health sciences university in Pretoria, Gauteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It focuses on health\u2011related undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and allied health sciences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because SMU training includes clinical components and professional accreditation requirements, tuition and related fees are structured differently from general universities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SMU Application Fee 2027 (Non\u2011refundable)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SMU requires all prospective students to pay a non\u2011refundable application fee when submitting an application for study. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SMU’s online application page currently lists the fee as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. The non-refundable application fee is R300.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. If you apply for both an undergraduate and a postgraduate programme, you submit separate applications but pay only one application fee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Application payments must be made before the university will process your application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Use your ID number (or passport number if you are not South African) as the payment reference, and attach proof of payment to your application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Always check the current application fee <\/a>when you start your application at the SMU official portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    SMU Registration Fee 2027 (Initial Payment)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Before you can register for your courses at SMU, there is an initial registration requirement that must be met:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Self\u2011funded students: SMU’s 2026 finance guidelines set a minimum registration fee of R4 500, payable before you can register. International students must pay their fees in full on registration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Funded students: If you have confirmed funding (for example NSFAS), you must provide official proof of funding to SMU before you register; no initial payment is required for students whose funding is confirmed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Students still waiting for a bursary outcome must pay the registration fee too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If you do not pay the initial fee by the registration deadline, you will not be permitted to register for your modules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      SMU Tuition Fee Structure per Faculty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      SMU has not yet published its 2027 tuition fees. Its latest schedule is the Undergraduate Fees 2026 list, and the 2026 finance guidelines put the 2026 increase at 7% on tuition and 8% on university-owned accommodation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      SMU prices each programme by year of study, so the amount changes as you move through the degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
