Afrimat Limited is a prominent Black‑empowered JSE‑listed company supplying construction materials, industrial minerals, and infrastructure solutions. 

The bursary initiative reflects Afrimat’s commitment to developing skills in mining, engineering, and community upliftment, particularly in Northern Cape communities such as JTG and Tsantsabane.

Fields of Study Funded

Afrimat funds full-time study at accredited South African institutions in these fields:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Geology (BSc)
  • Environmental Studies
  • Human Resources or Industrial Psychology (N4–N6 level acceptable)
    Preference is given to applicants from the Northern Cape province.

Benefits for Recipients

Eligibility Criteria 

You must satisfy all of the following:

  • South African citizen
  • Reside in or originate from the Northern Cape province (especially JTG and Tsantsabane areas)
  • Completed Matric and registered or accepted for a relevant programme (National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor’s degree)
  • Entering 2nd year or higher in 2026
  • Achieved a minimum 60% average in most recent academic year
  • Medically fit per Mine Health & Safety Act
  • Preference given to historically disadvantaged groups within designated categories

How to Apply

  1. Monitor the official Afrimat corporate website for the 2026 bursary portal opening.
  2. Complete the online application form, found under the bursary tab.
  3. In the field asking “Where did you hear about the bursary?”, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
  4. Upload all required documents combined into one PDF file (max 3 MB).
  5. Submit your application through the provided portal or via email as instructed on the official page.
