The Golder Bursary aims to empower South African students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in environmental science or engineering at accredited universities.

Golder Bursary Application Form

The application process for the Golder Bursary is straightforward and accessible. To apply, you must first ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying.

You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident, enrolled in or applying to an accredited undergraduate or postgraduate program in environmental science or engineering, and demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

Once you’ve got that sorted out, download the appropriate application form (separate forms exist for Environmental Science and Engineering students) from the Golder website or contact them for assistance.

Prepare and submit certified copies of the following documents along with your completed application form:

  3. Proof of university registration
  4. Latest academic transcript or progress report

  6. Letter of declaration confirming no other bursary or scholarship received in 2023 or 2024.

The Golder Bursary Requirements

The eligibility requirements for each program are not so different, here is a list of the general requirements for all applicants:

  1. You must be a South African citizen
  2. You must have completed Matric
  3. You must be studying towards a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental Sciences
  4. You must be studying towards one of proposed majors, which include but are not limited to: Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology / Hydrogeology (- for Environmental Science students)
  5. You must be studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical) (- for Engineering students)
  6. You must be in the 2nd, 3rd or final year of study
  7. You must be studying at a recognized university in South Africa
  8. You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in the 2023 academic year to date
  9. You must have passed all subjects in the 2023 academic year to date
  10. You must NOT be in receipt of any other bursary or scholarship funding
  11. You must be passionate about Environmental Science
  12. You must be dedicated to your studies
  13. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged candidates
