The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) disburses child grant funds to support the well-being of eligible children.

Ensuring your SASSA child grant banking details are accurate and up-to-date is necessary for receiving these payments without delays.

How to Update SASSA Child Grant Banking Details

There are two main methods for updating your SASSA child grant banking details:

Online Update (for SRD Grant Applications):

If you applied for the child grant through the SASSA SRD website, you can update your banking details online. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the SASSA SRD Website.
  2. Locate the “Change of Details” Section. Look for a section titled “Change of Details” or “Update Banking Information.” You might need to scroll down the homepage or explore the website menu to find it.
  3. You’ll be required to enter your South African ID number.
  4. The website might send a one-time verification code (OTP) to your registered phone number for added security. Enter the code to proceed.
  5. Once verified, you should be able to access a form to update your banking information. Ensure all details like bank name, account number, and branch code are accurate.
  6. Review your updated information carefully before submitting the form. The website will acknowledge your update and provide a confirmation message.

Visiting a SASSA Local Office:

If you’re unable to update your SASSA child grant banking details online, or you applied for the child grant through a different method, you can visit your nearest SASSA local office.

Here’s what to expect:

  1. Gather Required Documents: Make sure you have your South African ID document, the child’s birth certificate, proof of banking details (bank statement or verified letter from the bank), and any other documents requested by SASSA.
  2. Complete the Update Form: At the SASSA office, a representative will assist you in completing a form to update your child grant banking details.
  3. Submit Documents and Verify: Submit the completed form along with the required documents. The SASSA representative will verify your information and process the update.

The process depends on your initial application method.

If you applied for the child grant through the SRD website, you’ve already linked your banking details during the application process.

You can update these details using the “Change of Details” section as explained earlier.

If you applied through a SASSA office or another method, your banking details might not be automatically linked.

Visit a SASSA office to update and link your banking information.
