The South African Social Security Agency offers the R350 Social Relief of Distress grant to qualified South Africans who are dealing financial hardship.

With this article, you will learn how to check your R350 status.

How to Check R350 Status

There are several ways to check your R350 status. Here’s how to go about it:

1. Online: The quickest and most convenient method is through the SASSA SRD website (https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status).

Locate the “Application Status” section, enter your South African ID number and the phone number used during application, and click “Check Status.”

2. SMS: You can send an SMS with the following format: SASSA Status [ID Number] [Cell Phone Number] to 082 046 8553.

You should receive an SMS response with your application status.

3. Phone Call: SASSA operates a toll-free number (0800 60 10 11) for status inquiries. Be prepared to answer identifying information when prompted.

4. Moya App: The SASSA Moya App allows you to check your R350 status and manage other SASSA grants.

Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, register or log in, and navigate to the “SRD Grant Status” section.

5. SASSA Local Office: Visiting your nearest SASSA local office allows you to inquire about your status in person.

You will have to bring your ID document for verification.

How Do I know If My R350 Is Approved?

After checking your R350 status using any of the methods mentioned above, you’ll receive an update indicating whether your application is:

  1. Approved: This is the most desirable outcome, it means you’ll receive the R350 grant.
  2. Pending: This means SASSA is still processing your application and requires further verification or information.
  3. Declined: Unfortunately, your application was not successful. You may be eligible to appeal the decision if you believe there was an error. The SASSA website provides information on the appeals process.

What Can I Do If My R350 Is Approved?

If your R350 application is approved, SASSA will notify you of the payment method. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Bank Account Deposit: If you provided your bank details during application, the R350 will be deposited directly into your account.
  2. Post Office Collection: SASSA may send an SMS notification with a collection date and reference number if you opted for a post office payout. You’ll need your ID and reference number to collect the grant.

Payment dates vary each month and are announced by SASSA. Refer to SASSA’s official communication channels for the latest updates.
