What To Do If Your SRD Application Was Declined
If your SRD application was rejected but you believe you qualify, you can submit an appeal. Appeals must be lodged with the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
Important to note:
- A separate appeal is required for each month the application was declined
- ITSAA decisions are final, but a judicial review can be requested within 180 days
- Appeals are usually processed within 60 to 90 days

SASSA has warned applicants about fraudulent websites posing as official platforms. These fake websites ask users to enter personal information such as ID and phone numbers, which puts them at risk of fraud.
“Clients are cautioned not to share their personal information on websites that do not belong to SASSA,” the agency stated.
To ensure your information is safe, only use official SASSA websites ending in .gov.za when checking your SRD grant status. Always double-check the URL before entering any personal information.
