The South African Association of Botanists Scholarship is offered by the esteemed SAAB and aims to train the next generation of botanical experts in South Africa.

It provides financial support for postgraduate studies in botanically-related science fields, specifically for Honours/4th year and MSc levels.

About the South African Association of Botanists Scholarship

The SAAB Scholarship program recognizes the important role of botany in environmental conservation, biodiversity research, and agricultural development.

By supporting talented students, the association hopes to nurture future leaders who will contribute significantly to these fields.

The scholarship program offers two tiers of financial assistance:

  1. Honours/4th year: Three bursaries of R12,000 each, awarded for one year of study.
  2. MSc: Three bursaries of R40,000 each, disbursed as R20,000 per year, subject to satisfactory first-year results.

In addition to the financial support, scholarship recipients receive a complimentary one-year (Honours/4th year) or two-year (MSc) SAAB membership.

This provides access to valuable resources, networking opportunities, and professional development support within the botanical community.
