VerifiedThe Western Cape Education Department (WCED) releases school placement offers each year for parents who applied through its online admissions system.
Parents across the Western Cape apply online for Grade 1 and Grade 8 places about a year in advance.
Only parents who applied during the on-time period see their outcomes on the first release date. Late applicants wait until the WCED works through the on-time applications.
How to check WCED School Placement Offers
For the 2026 school year, the WCED released outcomes from 30 May 2025 and asked parents to respond within two weeks. The WCED publishes each year’s dates on its admissions site.
We urge parents to keep their online admissions system passwords handy and to verify that their contact details are correct ahead of the offers being made.
Accepting Placement Offers
Accept or decline every offer by the date in your offer letter, especially if you have offers from more than one school.
Accepting offers quickly helps prevent ‘double parking’ on the system, which temporarily blocks other learners from being offered those places. Parents should confirm their choice of school without delay to facilitate a smooth process for all applicants.
If parents fail to confirm their choice by the 14 June deadline, the system will automatically confirm the top-ranked choice of school that has made an offer. All other offers will be removed to ensure those places can then be offered to other learners.
What If You Do Not Receive an Offer on the First Release Date?
Some parents do not receive an offer on the first release date, even when they applied on time.
The WCED releases thousands of further offers as other parents accept or decline, so keep checking the system.
The Western Cape Education Department is committed to placing every learner at a school in the province. No effort will be spared in ensuring that every learner whose parents applied on time is placed as quickly as possible.
We are dedicated to leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to accommodate every learner in the Western Cape.
Make sure you can log in to the WCED online system, and keep your contact details up to date so that you do not miss an offer.
