About the Abe Bailey Trust

The Abe Bailey Trust was founded in 1950 and has spent over 70 years supporting talented young South Africans. 

It was established to promote leadership, education, and cultural exchange. 

The Trust believes that exposing students to global experiences helps them become stronger leaders back home.

What Does the Bursary Fund?

The Abe Bailey Travel Bursary covers the following areas of study and experiences:

What Does the Bursary Cover?

The bursary is fully funded and includes:

• International return airfare
  
• Accommodation for the full travel period
  
• Daily living expenses

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the 2026 Abe Bailey Travel Bursary, applicants must:

• Be a South African citizen
  
• Be a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student at a recognised South African university
  
• Maintain strong academic results
