The Blouberg Municipality Bursary was established by the Blouberg Local Municipality with the aim to support extremely bright students who are facing major financial challenges.

The bursary program mainly targets those living within the Blouberg municipal area who have completed their Matric (matriculation) and wish to pursue further studies at a recognized tertiary institution.

Blouberg Local Municipality, located in Limpopo’s Capricorn District, serves an area that includes Senwabarwana and Bochum. 

It established this bursary to support students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds in achieving higher education.

Fields of Study Funded

The bursary supports any field of study at recognized South African tertiary institutions, provided that applicants meet eligibility criteria.

Benefits for Recipients

Recipients receive funding toward tuition, registration fees, prescribed equipment, and study materials for one academic year. 

The bursary may be renewable based on academic performance.

Eligibility Criteria

You must satisfy all of the following:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Have completed Matric
  3. Come from an indigent or financially disadvantaged household (maximum monthly income typically R1 500)
  4. Not currently receiving funding from another bursary for the same course

How to Apply

  1. Download the official application form from Blouberg Municipality’s website, or collect a physical copy from the municipal offices or satellite offices.
  2. Complete the form carefully and attach all required supporting documents.
  3. Submit your application via one of the following methods:
    • Hand-delivered to the Skills Development Officer, 2nd Building, Mogwadi–Senwabarwana Road, Senwabarwana, 0790
    • Posted to the Human Resources Manager, Blouberg Municipality, PO Box 1593, Bochum, 0790

Submit certified copies of the following:

  1. Your South African ID
  2. Matric certificate or NTC3/results
  3. Parents’ or guardians’ ID(s)
  4. Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income
  5. Proof of indigent status (confirmed by Commissioner of Oath, Traditional Leader, or Ward Councillor)

Closing Date

The most recent official deadline was 19 January 2025). As of September 2025, no official closing date for the 2026 bursary has been posted.

You must monitor the Blouberg Municipality website or contact their bursary office early in 2026 to confirm the closing date.
