The Breede Valley Municipality Bursary program aims to invest in the future of its locals by providing financial aid to the hardworking but needy students among them who are pursuing their tertiary education.

Breede Valley Municipality is a local government entity in the Western Cape, encompassing areas such as Worcester, De Doorns, Rawsonville, and Touws River. 

It sponsors this bursary to support academic development and youth empowerment within its region.

The bursary prioritizes students in fields related to local government studies, though other fields are considered.

Benefits for Recipients

The bursary covers partial costs of:

• Registration, tuition, exam, and book fees
• Accommodation, meals, and transport
  Funding is disbursed directly to the tertiary institution.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following:

1. Be a South African citizen
2. Reside within the Breede Valley Municipal area (Worcester, De Doorns, Rawsonville, Touws River)
3. Be in Matric or have completed it, with a minimum overall average of 50%
4. Be accepted at or intending to study at a SAQA-accredited institution
5. Not be in receipt of NSFAS or another bursary
6. Support the municipality’s vision of a caring valley fostering service delivery and growth

How to Apply

1. Download the application form from the Breede Valley Municipality website or collect it physically from municipal offices or local libraries.
   
2. Complete the form, including listing “www.bursariesafrica.co.za” in the “How did you hear about us?” field.

Submit the completed form with certified supporting documents (see below) via one of these methods:

Required Documents

Include the following certified documents with your application:

1. South African ID
2. Matric certificate or latest results
3. Full tertiary academic record (if already studying)
4. Proof of registration (if already accepted)
5. Fee breakdown from the institution (including book costs)
6. Parents’ or guardians’ income proof (payslips, affidavit if unemployed, etc.)
7. Proof of residence (municipal account)

Closing Date

For the 2026 cycle, the official application deadline is anticipated to be 1 December, typically at 14:00.
