The three stages
- Career guidance: open “First time here?” and complete the pre-entry information folder.
- Placement assessment: literacy, numeracy and course selection. It is not a pass-or-fail test.
- Online application: upload a certified ID, certified latest passed results (both no older than three months) and proof of address in your name, each as a separate PDF.
Applications with missing documents are rejected. Northlink does not accept manual applications.
Application statuses (Northlink FAQ 2026)

Good to know
- You can apply with a birth certificate, but you need an ID at registration if you are 16 or older.
- Northlink has residences at Belhar and Tygerberg, and an agreement with a private accommodation provider.
- Apply for NSFAS separately.
