University of Johannesburg (UJ) Late Applications Link 2027

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is one of South Africa’s largest and most respected universities. 

Each year, UJ receives tens of thousands of applications for undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programmes. 

UJ’s main application cycle for the 2027 academic year closes on 31 October 2026. For the 2026 intake, UJ also ran a late enquiry process after the final matric results came out.

When did UJ open applications for 2027?

UJ opened undergraduate and postgraduate applications for the 2027 academic year on 1 April 2026. 

UJ closes applications for 2027 on 31 October 2026 at 12:00 (South African time) for most qualifications. Postgraduate and non-subsidised programmes can set different dates. 

This applies to online applications through UJ’s official application system on uj.ac.za.

Prospective applicants must apply online before this deadline and upload all required documents, such as certified ID/passport copies and academic records. 

Online applications are free, but paper-based applications may include a fee of R200 where applicable.

Does UJ accept late applications for 2027?

UJ has run a late enquiry system after the main closing date for applicants who missed the October deadline, but only for programmes that still have space. UJ has not yet announced whether it will repeat the process for the 2027 intake.

This system is not a separate public application link like the main application, but it is an official online enquiry process where you can check if UJ still has space in your desired qualification.

For the 2026 intake, the late enquiry window opened in January 2026, shortly after the matric results. If UJ repeats the process, expect it in January 2027 after the Class of 2026 results. 

Only applicants whose academic performance meets UJ’s minimum requirements and only programmes with space available will appear on the late enquiry system.

This page provides details about the late enquiry process and how to submit your information once the system opens. 

You should not trust any third-party sites claiming to offer “late application forms” outside of UJ’s official site.

When the late enquiries system opens, you can use this page to enter your UJ Student Number, Grade 12 examination number, or ID number to check whether you qualify for any available places.

When does the late enquiries window open?

For the 2026 academic year, UJ opened the late enquiry system in mid-January 2026 and kept it open for a few days while programme spaces lasted. 

Reports at the time put the start of that window at about 13 January 2026. UJ publishes the actual dates on its website each year, so check there rather than relying on last year’s timing.

Because spaces can fill quickly, UJ warns applicants to submit their late enquiries early once the system is active. 

Available qualifications can be removed from the system when they reach capacity.

How the late enquiry process works

1. Once the late enquiry window opens, go to the UJ late enquiries web page.
2. Enter either your UJ student number, Grade 12 examination number, or South African ID number.
3. If you have a UJ student number, you may be prompted to enter your iEnabler PIN and password.
4. The system will check whether there is space in the qualification you want and whether you meet the minimum requirements.
5. You will be informed of the outcome within a few days via email and, in many cases, SMS.

Applicants do not need to visit any UJ campus in person to check their status.

What if no space is available?

If no space remains in your chosen qualification through the late enquiry system, you may consider other options such as:

1. Choosing a different programme at UJ that still has space.
2. Applying to a TVET college or another university with open applications.
3. Apply before 31 October 2026 if you still want a place at UJ in 2027, or prepare for the 2028 cycle, which UJ usually opens on 1 April.

1. Undergraduate closing date for 2027: 31 October 2026 at 12:00.
2. Postgraduate closing dates may differ by faculty and programme, but also typically fall before the end of October.
3. Applications must be submitted online at uj.ac.za — paper-based forms may not be processed during late enquiry periods.
