The University of Pretoria opened online applications for the 2027 academic year on 1 April 2026.

• 31 May 2026 – closing date for Veterinary Science programmes.
• 30 June 2026 – closing date for all other undergraduate programmes.

Does UP accept late applications for 2027?

No. The University of Pretoria does not accept late applications for the 2027 academic year. 

UP’s admissions guidance states that UP considers no applications once the published closing dates have passed.

So if you missed Veterinary Science on 31 May 2026 or the other undergraduate programmes on 30 June 2026, you cannot apply to UP for 2027.

4. Complete the online application form with your personal details, programme choices, and academic history.

6. Pay the application handling fee where applicable and submit your application before the relevant closing date.

Once submitted, UP will send a confirmation email containing your student number (EMPLID). Use this number in any further communication with the university.

What happens if I miss the UP deadline?

If the UP application portal has closed for your programme:

1. You cannot submit a new undergraduate application to UP for 2027, because UP accepts no late applications.
2. Contact UP Admissions to confirm whether any special exceptions or extended opportunities exist for postgraduate or research programmes (rare and subject to space availability).
3. Look at institutions that are still open. UJ closes 2027 applications on 31 October 2026 and the University of Mpumalanga on 30 November 2026, and the Central Application Service (CAS) can help you find space.
4. Prepare to apply early for the 2028 academic year. UP opened its 2027 applications on 1 April 2026, so expect the next cycle to open around April 2027.

After submitting your application, you can check your status through the MyUP Student Portal using your login credentials. 

The portal shows your application progress, conditional or final offers, and any required actions.

UP also communicates important updates via email and SMS. 

It is important to monitor your email regularly and check your spam folder.
