Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a full-time registered student at the University of Pretoria
  • Be accepted into an academic programme at the university
  • Compete and excel in one recognised sport code offered by TuksSport
  • Agree to sign a contract with the university if selected
  • Be willing to reapply annually, as the bursary is awarded per academic year based on continued performance

Applicants do not need to be studying sport as a qualification to be considered. However, it is essential to verify that the sport you play is supported by TuksSport before applying.

Important Conditions

The bursary is performance-based and reviewed annually. If academic or sporting performance drops, the bursary may be reduced or cancelled. Furthermore, applicants under the age of 18 must ensure a legal guardian signs the application form.

Bursaries will not be granted for more than one sport. Dual funding is not allowed. If a recipient discontinues their studies or fails to meet their contractual obligations, the bursary will be revoked and the full amount must be repaid to the university.
