The Abey Mokgwatsane & ACA Bursary offers full funding for a marketing degree at the AAA School of Advertising in Johannesburg or Cape Town.

The bursary supports female, black students from outside major cities.

About Abey Mokgwatsane & the ACA

The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) is the official body for advertising and communications professionals in South Africa. 

The bursary is named after Abey Mokgwatsane, former CEO of Ogilvy South Africa and current Vodacom executive. 

He created this award in memory of his grandmother to support young women studying marketing at a top school.

Fields of Study Funded

This bursary covers a full Marketing Degree at the AAA School of Advertising. It supports studies at either the Johannesburg or Cape Town campus.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary pays full tuition fees for your marketing degree. It also covers accommodation costs throughout your studies. No partial awards are made.

Who Can Apply 

To qualify, you must meet all of these:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be female
  • Identify as black
  • Be motivated and dedicated to succeed
  • Live outside main commercial centres (e.g. not in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban)
  • Face financial constraints that prevent tertiary study
  • Be planning to study or already accepted for a Marketing Degree at AAA School of Advertising (Johannesburg or Cape Town campus)

  2. Download or request the official application package from ACA or AAA School of Advertising
  3. Complete the application form clearly
  4. Email your full application to [email protected] using this subject line:
    “Abey Mokgwatsane Bursary – Your Full Name”

Required Documents

Submit all of these items together or your application will be rejected:

  • Matric prelim results (certified copy)
  • Motivational letter from you that explains your financial situation and passion for marketing
  • Motivational letter (about 500 words) from your teacher
  • Proof of residence outside major centres (e.g. utility bills, affidavit)
    All documents must be in English and clearly readable.
