Access Trust Bursary 2026 – Funding for TVET College Students in the Western Cape

The Access Trust Bursary opens annually and always closes on 30 November. 

This bursary supports financially needy students enrolled at public TVET colleges in the Western Cape. 

You must prepare your documents early to apply before the final deadline.

About Access Trust and the Bursary

Access Trust is a non‑profit organisation based in the Western Cape. It aims to fund students studying scarce‑skill trades through TVET colleges

The bursary supports courses that address regional workforce needs and help students enter the job market.

Fields of Study Funded

Eligible fields include practical and vocational courses such as:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Building & Civil Engineering
  • Business & Management Studies
  • Information & Communication Technology
  • Early Childhood Development (ECD)
  • Farming Management
  • Travel & Tourism
  • Sports Fitness & Management
  • Hospitality
  • Performing Arts
  • Other South African priority NQF Level 4‑5 programmes at partner colleges

What the Bursary Covers

Successful applicants receive funding for tuition and fees. The award also covers study‑related expenses like books and materials. 

The exact amount depends on course fees, but it aims to reduce the financial burden on TVET students.

Who Can Apply 

You must meet all criteria below:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be aged between 18 and 28 years at time of application
  • Have passed Matric with at least 50% in overall average
  • Demonstrate financial need (income proof or affidavit if unemployed)
  • Enrolled or applying full‑time at a partner TVET college in the Western Cape:
    • College of Cape Town
    • South Cape College
    • West Coast College
    • Boland College
    • Northlink College
    • False Bay College
  • Not currently receiving another bursary

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official Access Trust website and download the bursary application form.
  2. Complete all form sections accurately.
  3. Attach the supporting documents listed below.
  4. Submit the full application package via:

Required Documents

Ensure you include all of these certified documents:

  • South African ID (or valid refugee/asylum status)
  • Matric certificate or full academic transcript
  • Proof of household income (three months’ payslips or affidavit if unemployed)
  • Character reference from a community or school leader
  • A motivational letter explaining your career goals and the need for funding
    Missing documents may result in automatic rejection.

Closing Date

The application window closes sharply on 30 November 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. 

Submission must allow for postal delivery time if posted.
