About African Global Skills Academy

African Global Skills Academy (AGSA), also known as the African Global Skills Academy, is a black-owned South African skills development and training provider. 

It delivers workplace-aligned education across industries such as retail, logistics, finance, engineering, business services, manufacturing, tourism, and hospitality. 

AGSA partners with Solarpop to offer bursarial support for critical skills development throughout the nation.

Fields of Study Funded

Eligible students may apply if they are studying or planning to study in South Africa in one of these fields:

  • Retail Business Management
  • Business Management / Finance / Accounting
  • Sales & Marketing Management
  • Information Technology / Information Systems
  • Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
  • Logistics Management / Transport / Warehousing
  • Human Resources / Administrative Management
  • Food Technology / Nutrition / Occupational Health & Safety
  • Fashion & Visual Merchandising
  • Supervisory or Store Management

Benefits for Recipients

Selected bursars receive financial assistance towards tuition, registration, and support materials. 

While the exact sum is not specified, the bursary aims to reduce financial pressure on students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to focus on completing their studies. 

No specific mentorship or career support is mentioned.

Eligibility Criteria 

To qualify for the bursary, you must meet all of the following:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be African, Coloured or Indian (B‑BBEE categories)
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be enrolled or accepted full-time in a recognised South African university or college
  • Study in one of the eligible fields listed above
    Incomplete or off-track applicants will not be considered.

How to Apply

  1. Collect certified copies of all required documents (see next section).
  2. Submit your application via email—no form is required.
  3. Email should be addressed to recruitment@africanglobalacademy.co.za with the subject “Solarpop Bursary 2026 Application”.
  4. When asked where you heard about bursaries, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
    Submit early to increase your chances.

Required Documents

Include clear, certified copies of:

  • South African ID document
  • Matric certificate
  • Latest academic transcript
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Proof of registration or acceptance at an accredited institution
  • Motivational letter (1 page) explaining your educational goals and need for support
    Missing documents may disqualify your application.

The bursary typically closes in late May.
