The Alfred Nzo District Municipality, based in the northeastern Eastern Cape, is named after Alfred Baphethuxolo Nzo.

- Civil Engineering (National Diploma)
- Community Water Services & Sanitation (BSc)
- Disaster Management (Diploma/Degree)
- Environmental & Water Science (BSc)
- Geographic Information Systems (Diploma/Degree)
- Graphic Art or Design (Diploma/Degree)
- Marine Engineering (Diploma)
- Mechanical Engineering (Diploma/Degree)
- Urban & Regional Planning (Diploma/Degree)
- Water Science Technology (Diploma)
- Water Resource Management (BSc)
Benefits for Recipients
Successful applicants receive financial support for:
- Tuition and registration fees
- Textbooks or study materials
- A living allowance or coverage for accommodation (depending on need)
Recipients enter into a bursary contract with the municipality to agree to the terms.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the following:
- Be a South African citizen
- Reside in the Alfred Nzo District Municipality area
- Be aged 16–35 in 2026
- Be in Matric (in 2025) or have completed Matric
- Be accepted or registered to study full-time in one of the listed fields in 2026
- Demonstrate academic promise and financial need
- Preference is given to disadvantaged applicants
Applications not meeting all criteria will not be considered.
How to Apply
- Download the Alfred Nzo Bursary Application Form from the official andm.gov.za site or collect it from local municipal offices, ANDM offices, or Ward Councillors in Mbizana, Ntabankulu, Umzimvubu, or Matatiele.
- Complete the form carefully, including the field “How did you hear about this bursary?” and enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
- Collect and prepare all required supporting documents (see next section).

Required Documents
Include certified or clear copies of:
- South African ID document
- Latest Matric results or Matric certificate
- Proof of acceptance or registration from a recognized tertiary institution
- Proof of residence stamped by your Ward Councillor
- Parent/guardian proof of income or affidavit if unemployed or deceased
- A motivational letter stating why you deserve the bursary
Missing or uncertified documentation may cause disqualification.
Closing Date
The confirmed deadline for the last cycle was 14 February 2025.
The 2026 deadline is expected to fall in mid-February, but has not yet been officially published.
Only applications received before the confirmed closing date will be considered.
