About the Organisation
ANFASA (Academic and Non‑Fiction Authors’ Association of South Africa) was established in 2004.
It represents and promotes the rights and development of academic and non‑fiction authors across South Africa.
ANFASA offers workshops, networking, and this grant scheme to uplift writers.
Fields of Study Funded
This grant supports South African citizens currently working on non‑fiction literary or academic projects, including biographies, history, social analysis, research monographs, and essays in official South African languages.
It is not aimed at fiction, poetry, or drama.
Benefits for Recipients
Selected writers receive a grant of approximately R30,000 (recently in the range R20,000–R30,000).
