About the Organisation

ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited is Africa’s largest steel producer, part of a global group operating in 27 countries. 

The company invests in socio-economic development by funding bursaries for capable young South Africans pursuing engineering degrees.

Fields of Study Funded

The bursary supports full‑time enrolment in a four‑year engineering degree in one of the following fields:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering

Benefits for Recipients

Selected applicants will receive comprehensive funding, including:

  • Tuition and registration fees
  • Accommodation and food allowances
  • Textbook allowance
  • One‑off laptop allowance
    This support aims to relieve financial pressure and help students focus fully on their studies.

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be enrolling full‑time in one of the qualifying engineering degrees at a recognised university in 2026
  • Matric students must pass English, Mathematics, and Physics
  • University students must have passed all previously registered courses
  • Show financial need and academic promise
    Failure to meet any requirement may lead to disqualification.

How to Apply

  1. Submit your application online via the official ArcelorMittal bursary portal when the 2026 application window opens.
  2. Complete the online form fully, upload all supporting documents, and include your updated CV and academic record.
  3. When asked “Where did you hear about bursaries?”, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
  4. Submit before the confirmed deadline; incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

  • Matric certificate or current academic transcripts
  • Proof of registration or acceptance for 2026
