About the Programme
The Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with the Tom Queba Memorial Fund and Pegasys, offers these scholarships to drive positive societal change.
The programme supports study at South African universities and enables scholars to develop leadership and academic skills through organised events and networking opportunities.
Fields of Study Funded
Supported fields include:
- Justice
- Education
- Humanities and the Arts
- Sciences and Applied Sciences
Your proposed study must directly contribute to social or environmental development and benefit the poorest communities in South Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the following:
- Be a Black African or Coloured South African national, residing in South Africa
- Be under 34 years old at the start of your course
- Hold or be about to graduate with a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent)
- Be studying or applying for Honours or a Master’s degree at a South African university
- Use of AI tools is strictly prohibited—all application materials must be entirely your own work (submissions using AI will be disqualified).
What the Scholarship Offers
- Value of R85 000 per year, for up to two years
- Scholarships support full-time, part-time, and distance learning modalities
- Attendance at an annual scholar conference, with additional smaller community events—scholars are expected to participate and contribute to the network.
