About the Organisation
Calvin and Family Group (CFG), founded in 2005, is a black-owned and youth-owned holding company with operations in sectors ranging from construction and mining to property, media, security, logistics, textiles, and more.
Its bursary initiative reflects its commitment to enabling bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Fields of Study Funded
CFG offers bursaries for full-time study in the following disciplines:
- Agriculture
- Commerce
- Cyber Security
- Engineering
- Forensic Investigation
- Law
- Security Management
Benefits for Recipients
- Financial support toward tuition and study-related costs.
- Consideration is given to students facing financial difficulties, especially those with outstanding debt.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- South African citizens.
- Completed Matric.
- Enrolled or intending to enroll full-time in one of the qualifying fields at an accredited South African tertiary institution.
- Minimum of 60% in English and relevant subjects.
- Demonstrate financial need—outstanding student debt is considered an advantage.
- Preference for students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities.
How to Apply
Submit the following certified documents via email to [email protected], with the subject line “CFG Bursary Application”:
- Certified ID copy
- Certified Matric certificate
- Full academic transcript (on institutional letterhead, if currently studying)
- Proof of acceptance or registration letter (if first-year applicant)
- Proof of outstanding student debt (if applicable)
- Motivational letter (max 1 page)
- Parents’ or guardians’ certified ID copies
- Proof of financial need (payslips, affidavit, grants, etc.)
No formal application form is required.

Closing Date
Applications for the 2026 bursary cycle close on 15 January 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.
