GIBB Bursary Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the GIBB Bursary, you must typically meet these conditions:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be enrolled in or accepted for a full-time engineering degree (undergraduate, Honours or Master’s).
- Be studying in one of GIBB’s priority engineering disciplines: Civil Engineering (including water, rail, and roads), Electrical Engineering, and Electronic Engineering (signalling, telecommunications).
- For undergraduates, you usually must be entering your second year or higher (or be in Honours/Master’s).
- Maintain a minimum academic performance, often around a 60% average.
What the GIBB Bursary Covers
GIBB’s bursary typically provides:
- Tuition fees for your approved engineering qualification
- Books and prescribed learning materials.
- Where needed, accommodation, transport, and travel costs may be supported.
- Vacation work / practical training: Bursary holders often do vacation work at GIBB, gaining workplace experience.
- Service commitment: After graduation, recipients may be required to work at GIBB in South Africa.
