About the GrandWest Bursary Programme

The GrandWest Bursary Programme provides financial assistance to undergraduate students who meet the programme’s academic and demographic criteria. The bursary focuses on supporting students from the Western Cape and encouraging inclusion, especially for applicants living with disabilities or impairments.

Fields of Study Covered

The bursary is available for students pursuing the following career paths:

  • Tourism and Hospitality
  • Information Technology
  • Agriculture
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Only applicants studying towards these career paths will be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be a Western Cape resident
  • Be studying full time
  • Have completed matric in South Africa
  • Be registered or accepted at one of the following institutions:
    • University of the Western Cape (UWC)
    • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
    • University of Cape Town (UCT)
    • Stellenbosch University
  • Be in undergraduate studies
  • Be studying towards one of the approved career paths listed above

Applicants living with an impairment or disability are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to dyslexia, Type 1 diabetes, epilepsy, or sight or hearing impairment.

Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee funding.

How to Apply

Students who meet the criteria can request an application form by email.

To apply:

  1. Email studywithgrandwest@suninternational.com to request the bursary application form.
  2. Complete the application form in full.
  3. Attach all required supporting documents.
  4. Submit your application as instructed on the form before the closing date.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
