The Inscape Scholarship is a prestigious programme that rewards exceptional creative talent and academic excellence. 

It aims to make high-quality design and marketing education accessible to deserving South African students who may lack the financial means. 

By investing in these students, Inscape helps cultivate the next generation of innovative designers, communicators, and creative thinkers. 

The scholarship is highly competitive and is awarded based on merit and creative potential. 

Qualifications Covered by the Inscape Scholarship 

The Inscape Scholarship funds full-time, first-year undergraduate studies at one of Inscape’s national campuses. The main qualifications supported fall within the following faculties:

  1. Built Environment Faculty: Bachelor of Design in Interior Design, Diploma in Interior Design, or Higher Certificates in Interior Decorating or Architectural Technology.
  2. Digital Design & Technology Faculty: Bachelor of Design in Graphic Design, Audio Visual Design, or Interaction Design, or the Diploma in Graphic Design.
  3. Creativity & Design Faculty: Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design or Higher Certificate in Fashion Design.
  4. Business & Communication Faculty: Bachelor of Arts in Digital Marketing and Communication or Bachelor of Design in Ideation.

Inscape Scholarship Coverage

The Inscape Scholarship offers generous financial support to successful applicants.

  1. Funding Level: The scholarship may cover either full (100%) or partial (50%) tuition fees.
  2. Study Pack: The scholarship typically includes the provision of the first-year study pack, which includes essential equipment like a MacBook or a laptop.
  3. Exclusions: The funds do not cover monthly consumables, insurance on the provided device, transport, parking fees, administration fees, transfer or resubmission fees, or accommodation.

Inscape Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the 2026 Inscape Scholarship, you must meet a strict set of academic, residential, and entry-level requirements.

  1. You must be a South African citizen with a valid ID document or book.
  2. You must be enrolling for your first year of undergraduate studies in 2026.
  3. You must be eligible to study for the chosen qualification as per your final National Senior Certificate (NSC) results.
  4. You must intend to study in a full-time contact mode at one of Inscape’s national campuses in South Africa (Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Midrand, Pretoria, or Durban).
  5. The scholarship does not apply to distance or online learning.
  6. You must be willing to commit to the scholarship requirements, which include serving as an Inscape ambassador.
  7. Continued funding beyond the first year is strictly subject to the student achieving the minimum promotion requirements for the course.

Inscape Scholarship Application Process

Applications for the Inscape Scholarship are strictly conducted online through the official Inscape Scholarship portal. 

Applications submitted in person at a campus will not be accepted.

  1. Ensure you meet the entrance criteria for your chosen course before applying for the scholarship.
  2. Complete the online application form on the official Inscape website’s Scholarship portal.
  3. You must submit clear copies of all required supporting documentation with your application.
  4. The required documents include a certified copy of your valid South African ID document.
  5. Attach a certified copy of your latest academic results (Matric certificate if completed, or latest Matric results if currently enrolled).
  6. Be prepared to submit your final National Senior Certificate to Inscape immediately upon receiving it.
  7. You will likely be required to pay a non-refundable pre-verification fee, which was approximately R870 in the previous year.
  8. Final selection may involve an interview or an assessment of your creative portfolio, depending on the programme.

1. Does the Inscape Scholarship cover all my study costs? +
The scholarship covers either full or partial tuition fees and includes the first-year study pack, which often contains a MacBook or laptop. It does not cover accommodation, transport, or administration fees.
2. Can I apply for the scholarship if I want to study online? +
No, the scholarship is specifically applicable to students enrolling for full-time, contact learning at one of the national Inscape campuses in South Africa. Distance learning programmes are not eligible.
3. Is the pre-verification fee refundable if I am unsuccessful? +
No. Inscape requires a non-refundable pre-verification fee upon application. This fee covers the administrative costs involved in assessing your eligibility and records.
4. What is the obligation if I receive the scholarship? +
Recipients are expected to act as Inscape ambassadors. This involves meeting key requirements such as attending lectures, passing all modules, and participating in some institutional and promotional activities on campus.
5. What happens if I fail a module during my first year? +
Continued scholarship funding is conditional on meeting the minimum promotion requirements. If you fail to meet these academic standards, your scholarship may be withdrawn for the subsequent years of study.
6. Do I need to be a Matriculant to apply for this scholarship? +
Yes, the scholarship is primarily for students enrolling for their first year of undergraduate studies. You must have completed or be completing your Matric and meet the specific course entrance requirements.
7. How long do I have to accept the scholarship if I am successful? +
Successful scholarship beneficiaries have a very short window, typically one week, to confirm their acceptance and complete their online enrolment process to secure their place.
8. What is the difference between a full and partial scholarship? +
A full scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees and the study pack. A partial scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fees and the study pack. The selection is at Inscape’s sole discretion.
9. What courses are considered to be in the Built Environment Faculty? +
This faculty includes qualifications such as Interior Design (Degree and Diploma), Environmental Design, Interior Decorating, and Architectural Technology, which focus on spatial planning and structural aesthetics.
10. Can current Inscape students apply for this scholarship? +
No. This specific scholarship is strictly for candidates who will be entering their first year of undergraduate studies at Inscape in 2026. Current students may need to look at other funding options.
