Red & Yellow invites bursary applications for its next academic year by email to fulltime@redandyellow.co.za and publishes no opening or closing date.
Red & Yellow Creative School of Business, a private higher education institution in Salt River, Cape Town, and a member of Honoris United Universities, runs its own bursary programme for full-time students. The school describes the programme as a “social promise”: at least 10% of all students on its Cape Town campus study on bursaries. Red & Yellow reports that 19% of its students were bursary-supported in the 2023 academic year. Applications go to one email address, and the school does not publish an application window, an award value or a selection timeline.
Qualifications the bursaries cover
Red & Yellow’s bursaries page lists the programmes its bursaries apply to. The list mixes three-year degrees, one-year advanced diplomas and one-year higher certificates:
| Programme | Length and mode, as Red & Yellow lists it |
|---|---|
| Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication | 3 years |
| Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing | 3 years |
| Advanced Diploma in Marketing and Advertising Communications | 1 year |
| Advanced Diploma in User Centered Design | 1 year |
| Advanced Diploma in Digital Marketing | 2 years, online, part-time |
| Higher Certificate in Creating Digital Content | 1 year |
| Higher Certificate in Graphic Design | 1 year |
Red & Yellow introduces the list with “programmes including”, so it may not be complete. The 10% commitment is worded around full-time study at the Cape Town campus, yet the same list includes the online, part-time Advanced Diploma in Digital Marketing. Anyone interested in a programme not named here, or in the online diploma, should ask the school directly whether a bursary is available for it.
South African citizenship is the one stated condition
The only eligibility rule Red & Yellow publishes is that bursaries are open to South African citizens only. The school says the programme lets “a broad range of students” apply regardless of background or circumstances. It does not publish a minimum Matric result, an income threshold, a list of supporting documents or selection criteria, and it notes that terms and conditions apply without setting them out on the page. Permanent residents and foreign nationals fall outside the citizenship rule as written.
Sending a bursary application to fulltime@redandyellow.co.za
Students who want a bursary for Red & Yellow’s next academic year are asked to email fulltime@redandyellow.co.za. There is no online form, and the school does not specify a subject line or what the email should contain. A sensible first email names the programme you want to study, confirms that you are a South African citizen and asks what Red & Yellow needs from you and by when. Because no closing date is published, writing well before the start of the academic year is the safer course.
A bursary enquiry sits alongside the normal study application. Red & Yellow takes programme applications through its own application page, and the bursaries page does not say whether an offer of a place must come first.
Where the bursary money comes from
Much of the funding comes from companies. In a July 2021 post, Red & Yellow reported that 74 young South Africans had received bursaries worth R7.5 million in total through its bursary programme, with half of that sponsored by corporate partners, Adidas among them. The school still invites businesses to sponsor students, pointing to talent pipelines and B-BBEE scorecard points, and handles that side through corporatetraining@redandyellow.co.za. In 2024 the Nedbank IMC marketing conference named Red & Yellow its official bursary partner and sponsored two bursaries for on-campus students that year.
Red & Yellow does not publish the value of an individual bursary or say whether it covers tuition only or other costs as well. Two past recipients quoted by the school described their awards generously: one advanced diploma graduate wrote that he “didn’t have to pay anything”, and a BCom Marketing student said he did not have to worry about living allowances. These are personal accounts, not published terms, so confirm what your own award would cover before relying on it.
Loans and payment plans if no bursary comes through
Red & Yellow’s funding options page lists monthly payment options for full-time and online qualifications and four finance partners: Student Hero (a platform for comparing lenders’ offers), Capitec Education Finance, the Nedbank Education Loan and Manati Alternative Education Finance, the last for full qualifications only. These are loans that must be repaid, not bursaries. As a private institution, Red & Yellow is not on the list of public universities and TVET colleges that NSFAS funds, so students should look at private sponsors as well; our private institution bursaries list, commerce bursaries and arts bursaries pages are places to start.
