VerifiedSASSA pays grants electronically. There are two main ways to receive a grant, plus a cash collection option for the SRD R370 grant. Several older methods have ended, which is worth knowing because many websites still describe them.

Changing how you are paid
- Older persons, disability and child grants: visit a SASSA office with your ID and your bank details, or the account holder’s proof of account in your name.
- SRD R370 grant: change your payment method online at srd.sassa.gov.za. See the SRD banking details guide.
SASSA only pays into accounts in the beneficiary’s own name, or a procurator’s account where one has been formally appointed. Never give your card or PIN to anyone.
Collecting for someone else
If a beneficiary cannot collect their own grant, they can appoint a procurator at a SASSA office. The procurator must be approved by SASSA; an informal arrangement is not enough.

What is the best way to receive a SASSA grant?
A bank account in your own name is usually the most convenient, because you can use any of your bank’s channels. A Postbank black card works well if you do not have a bank account.
Can I still collect my grant at a pay point?
No. SASSA cash pay points closed in 2024. Use your card at stores and ATMs, or have the grant paid into your bank account.
