Step by step
- Log in to myNSFAS with your ID number and password.
- Open your application, or the section showing missing documents.
- Choose the document type the system asks for.
- Select the file from your phone or computer and upload it.
- Check that the status updates, then keep checking for any further requests.
Documents NSFAS may ask for
- Your ID or birth certificate. A smart ID card needs both sides.
- Your parents’, guardian’s or spouse’s ID.
- Proof of income, where applicable.
- The Disability Annexure A form, if you have a disability.
- A Vulnerable Child Declaration completed by a social worker, if applicable.
- The Declaration: Non-SASSA, if you have no family member details.
- The signed consent form.
NSFAS does not accept affidavits or a driver’s licence as proof of identity, and documents no longer need to be certified.
Tips that prevent rejections
- Scan or photograph each document flat, in good light, so every word is readable.
- Make sure names and ID numbers match Home Affairs records exactly.
- Upload each document under the right type.
- Respond quickly: NSFAS has given applicants 30 days from a notification to submit outstanding documents.
