Only during exam periods. Unisa’s contracts with Vodacom, MTN, Telkom and Cell C run from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. Data goes to students who qualify for the exams in October/November 2025, January/February 2026 and May/June 2026.

How do I claim the free data from Unisa?

There’s typically no need to claim the free data directly.

Unisa sends a list of students admitted to exams to the networks by the end of each month, and data is provided from the 1st of the next month. All registered students also have access to Unisa zero-rated sites until September 2026. 

However, keeping your cellphone number updated on myUnisa is needed for receiving the data.

1. Double-check your myUnisa profile: Ensure your cellphone number is accurate and up-to-date.
