When Does UJ Registration 2026 Open?
UJ registration for returning undergraduate students opens on:
- Opening date: 12 January 2026
- Closing date: 6 February 2026
- Mode: Online only (off-campus)
UJ does not allow walk-in or on-campus registration. All students must register online.
If you do not register before 6 February 2026, UJ cannot guarantee your space.
Even if you only have second-semester modules outstanding, you must still register during this period.
How to Register at UJ in 2026
To complete your UJ registration 2026:
- Go to: https://www.uj.ac.za/admission-aid/registration/
- Follow the step-by-step online registration guide.
- Register for all required modules.
- Download and check your proof of registration.
You must confirm that:
- Your qualification is correct.
- All modules for the full year are correct.
Only registered students may attend lectures, submit assignments, or access academic services.
Important Rules for Returning Students
- Compulsory modules that you failed will automatically be added first.
- Students who interrupted their studies must get special permission from their faculty before registering.
- Some qualifications are being phased out. Always check your faculty yearbook.
If you previously placed your studies in abeyance, you must apply for permission to return before registering.
UJ Registration 2026 for Transfer Students
If you are transferring from another university:
- You must register during the same period (12 January to 6 February 2026).
- Postgraduate students must submit:
- Full academic record
- Certificate of conduct
- Degree certificate
- ID copy
These documents must be emailed to your faculty officer. The subject line must include your student number and qualification.
Credit transfers must be approved by the academic department.
UJ Registration 2026 Fees and Payments
Minimum payment to register:
- Day students: R5 950
- Residence students (accepted): R9 850
- Residence students (waiting list): R5 950
- International students: 40% upfront payment

UJ Cancellation and Refund Rules
Full Cancellation
- On or before 25 February 2026: Full refund (excluding ICT levy R500 and registration levy R650).
- After 25 February 2026: No full refund.
Module Cancellation
Refunds depend on when you cancel and whether the module is first semester, second semester, or year module.
Late cancellation may result in:
- No refund
- A “fail” result on your academic transcript
Always submit cancellations formally through your faculty. Telephonic cancellations are not accepted.
Changes to Registration
- Changes after 9 February 2026 must be submitted to your faculty office.
- Adding modules is only allowed during the registration period unless approved by the HoD or Vice Dean.
- Failure to follow the process means you remain liable for fees.
Student Cards for 2026
You can collect your student card after registration from 12 January to 6 February 2026 between 08:00 and 15:30.
You must bring:
- Proof of registration
- ID document
Replacement cards cost R150.
Appeals for Academic Exclusion
Students excluded for academic reasons may appeal online:
- Appeal period: 5 December 2025 to 18 January 2026

Students with unsuccessful appeals or disciplinary exclusions cannot register.
UJ Registration 2026 for International Students
International students must upload:
- Valid visa
- Passport copy
- South African medical aid
- Permit or refugee documentation where applicable
Uploads must be done via uLink.
Some faculties do not allow conditional registration.
Conditional Registration
Conditional registration is allowed under strict conditions:
- Registration during the official period
- Payment of the registration amount
- Signing of the conditional agreement
- Submission of all documents
- Attendance of classes
Conditional registration expires by 31 March 2026 and may be cancelled if conditions are not met.
Conditionally registered students cannot stay in residence.
