University of Mpumalanga (UMP) Late Applications Link 2027

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) is one of South Africa’s youngest public universities. 

It has campuses in Mbombela and Siyabuswa and offers undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in fields such as Agriculture, Education, Business Sciences, and Natural Sciences.

Each year thousands of students apply to UMP for the next academic year, and the 2027 intake is no different.

What are the official UMP application dates for 2027?

UMP opened applications for the 2027 academic year on 1 June 2026, with these closing dates:

1. Undergraduate programmes and advanced diplomas: close 30 November 2026.
2. Honours programmes and postgraduate diplomas: close 30 January 2027.
3. Master’s and doctoral programmes: close 30 January 2027.

These dates apply to online applications submitted through the official UMP application portal.

Does UMP accept late applications for 2027?

UMP ran a late application period for the 2026 academic year, and its portal supports late applications for programmes that still have space. 

The official online application closing dates do not completely rule out late applications. 

The late application window opens after the main deadline ends and allows students a second chance to apply while space is still available in selected programmes. 

For the 2026 intake, the late period ran from December 2025 into early January 2026. UMP has not yet announced late dates for 2027, so check ump.ac.za after 30 November 2026.

During the late application period, UMP will list courses that still have space available, and you can apply online for those programmes. 

Meeting minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission because places are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

UMP does not use a completely separate late application portal. 

Instead, you should use the official UMP application system through the main university website.

How to apply online at UMP

To apply online to UMP for 2027:

1. Go to the University of Mpumalanga’s official website at www.ump.ac.za.
2. Navigate to Study with us → Application Process → Online Applications.
3. Register for an online account or log in if you already have one.
4. Complete the application form with your personal information and chosen programmes.
5. Upload certified copies of all required documents, including your ID/passport and academic results.
6. Pay the non-refundable application fee before submitting the form.
7. Submit before the official deadline or during the late application window if space is still open.

What documents and fees are required?

When applying, you typically need:

1. A certified copy of your South African ID or passport.
2. Your Matric certificate or latest academic results.
3. Certified academic records (for postgraduate applicants).
4. Proof of payment of your application fee.

UMP’s application fee guide (may change, confirm on the official site):

1. South African applicants: about R200.
2. SADC applicants: about R400.
3. International applicants: about R550.

Fees must be paid before your application can be processed.

What if I missed the main deadline?

If you miss UMP’s 30 November 2026 closing date for undergraduate programmes:

1. Check whether the late application period is open. UMP sometimes opens a late window for programmes with space.
2. Apply early during this late window before space runs out.
3. If no late window is currently open, contact UMP admissions to confirm whether any exceptions are available.
4. If you plan to do Honours, a postgraduate diploma, a Master’s or a doctorate, you have until 30 January 2027.
