UNISA takes undergraduate applications for the 2027 academic year from 17 August to 9 October 2026. To check your application status for 2027, use UNISA’s official application status platform:

1. Go to the UNISA application status page: https://myadmin.unisa.ac.za/unisa-studentstatus/default.do or https://myadmin.unisa.ac.za/unisa-studentstatus/studentStatus.do.
2. Enter your student number (the number you received when you applied).
3. Enter your surname, first names, and date of birth as requested.
4. Click Continue to view your current application status.

Always use the official UNISA web links. Avoid third-party websites that are not part of the official www.unisa.ac.za domain.

What Do the Different UNISA Status Messages Mean?

When you check your application status online, you may see several possible messages:

1. Application Received means UNISA has received your application.
2. Application In Progress / Under Review means your application is being assessed by the admissions department.
3. Awaiting Documents means UNISA needs additional documents from you before a decision can be made.
4. Provisionally Accepted means UNISA has found that you meet the basic entry requirements, but final acceptance depends on supporting documents or final results.
5. Accepted / Offer Made means UNISA has offered you a place for 2027. UNISA gives you 10 working days to accept unless the offer email says otherwise, and first-time applicants must finish the First-Year Experience MOOC before they can accept.
6. Not Accepted / Unsuccessful means your application did not meet the admission requirements or the programme is full.

When Should I Check My UNISA Status?

It is important to check your status shortly after submitting your application to make sure UNISA has received it. 

Many applicants begin checking their status about 2 to 3 weeks after submission. 

Checking regularly is especially important after the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results are released or during peak application periods when many applicants are processed.

What Should I Do If My Status Says “Awaiting Documents”?

If your status shows Awaiting Documents, UNISA needs additional paperwork before it can make a final decision. 

This could include your final NSC results, certified copies of academic records, or other required documents. 

Upload these documents as soon as possible through the portal or follow the instructions UNISA provides. 

Keeping your contact details current ensures you receive notifications by email or SMS.

How Do I Accept an Offer From UNISA?

When your status shows Accepted / Offer Made, UNISA will provide details on how to accept your offer. 

You may need to log in to your student portal or use instructions from the application status page to confirm your acceptance. 

Accepting an offer secures your place before registration opens. 

After acceptance, you will receive instructions on how to register for modules and pay fees during the official registration period.

What Happens After My Application Status Shows Accepted?

Once your status shows that you have been accepted, you must register for your modules during the official registration period. 

For the first semester of 2026, UNISA opened registration in late January to early February 2026. Expect a similar period for 2027, and use the dates in your offer communication. 

You will register online through the UNISA registration system and make sure you pay your registration fees before the deadline.

Once registered, you can access your study materials, modules, and support services through your myUnisa account.
