About the Alfeco Foundation
The Alfeco Foundation, part of Alfeco Holdings, is a South African metals and energy group focused on education and development.
It supports students in underserved areas by funding tertiary studies aligned with industry needs, in line with local economic priorities.
Fields of Study Funded
Funding covers these full‑time undergraduate or diploma programmes at accredited South African institutions:
- Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering
- Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Draughting & Technical Design
- Environmental Management, Workplace Safety Management
- Finance, Human Resources Management
Applications are reviewed with consideration for broader fields if aligned with company’s needs.
Benefits for Recipients
The bursary provides financial support for tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and may assist with accommodation, transport, meals, or a living stipend depending on assessed need and study level.
It is awarded on a one‑year basis and may be renewed.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the following:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed Matric, or be enrolled/accepted for full‑time study in a supported field
- Attend an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
- Show evidence of financial need, personal motivation, and academic promise
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Applicants failing any requirement are not considered.
How to Apply
- Download the Alfeco Bursary Application Form when the cycle opens.
- Complete the form and compile your supporting documents.
- In the field “Where did you hear about bursaries?”, enter “www.bursariesafrica.co.za.”
- Send your application—and certified documents—as a single PDF to [email protected], using the subject line: “Alfeco Bursary 2026 Application – [Your Name]”.
Required Documents
Include certified copies of:
- South African ID document
- Certified Matric certificate or final Grade 12 results
- Full academic transcript (if currently studying)
- Proof of registration or acceptance at a tertiary institution (on official letterhead)
- Proof of residence
- Medical certificate (if applicable for disability status)
- Short Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Applications missing any item or not certified will be disqualified.
Closing Date
The 2026 application deadline is expected around the end of May 2026, based on the confirmed 30 May 2025 closing date from the previous cycle.
