The Bigen Bursary program is an excellent opportunity for South African students pursuing an engineering degree at a recognized South African university.

Funded by Bigen Group, a leading infrastructure development company, this bursary aims to support and groom future engineering talent in the country.

Bigen is a black-owned African infrastructure development group with over five decades of experience.

• BSc or BEng degrees in:
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering

Eligibility Criteria

1. South African citizen
2. Registered for a BSc or BEng degree in the listed engineering fields at a recognised South African university
3. First-year students: minimum average of 70%
4. Second- or third-year students: minimum average of 65%
5. Not receiving any other bursary or NSFAS funding
6. Displays leadership acumen

How to Apply

• Applications open in July on Bigen’s official bursary portal
• Complete the online form and attach required documents (see below)

Required Documents

Submit the following clearly and certified:

1. South African ID or Smart ID card
2. Full academic record (including proof of minimum average)
3. University registration proof
4. PDF-format Curriculum Vitae
5. Proof of banking details (bank-stamped or official letter)
6. Proof of residential address (municipal account, bank statement, or tribal authority letter)

Closing Date

Applications close on 30 August 2025 for the 2026 bursary cycle. Submit early and complete to be considered.
