Belgium Campus publishes no opening or closing dates for its Merit Based and Top Achiever awards; its Applicant Portal accepts applications for 2027 study.
Belgium Campus iTversity, a private higher education institution with campuses in Pretoria, Kempton Park and Stellenbosch, gives two awards of its own to school leavers: the Merit Based Award and the Top Achiever Award. Neither is a full scholarship. Belgium Campus states plainly in its funding FAQ that it “does not offer full scholarships”, and describes the Merit Based Award as partial funding. The awards sit alongside bank student loans, a donor-funded bursary fund, a financial relief route and corporate sponsorships that industry partners select themselves.
How the Merit Based Award is worked out
Belgium Campus aims the Merit Based Award at academically deserving students, those who “worked hard throughout their high school career”, who need financial help. There is no fixed amount. To be considered, you:
- Write the Belgium Campus Scholarship Test online.
- Upload your final Grade 11 or Grade 12 results to your profile on the Belgium Campus Applicant Portal.
Belgium Campus uses your school results and your test result together to calculate how much of the award you qualify for, and tells you the outcome by email. It does not publish the scale it uses, so the size of an award cannot be predicted in advance.
The Top Achiever Award and its two descriptions
The Top Achiever Award is for the learner with the highest grade average at school in specific subjects, confirmed by the school principal. Belgium Campus’s funding page describes it in two slightly different ways:
- The award summary says it is for the highest average in IT, mathematics and/or physical science in the Grade 11 final examinations.
- The application instructions ask for a principal’s letter confirming the highest average in mathematics and/or physical science in the Grade 12 final examinations.
Either way, the application is a letter of confirmation from your principal, emailed to admissions@belgiumcampus.ac.za. If you are unsure which grade’s results your letter should cover, ask the admissions office before sending it. Belgium Campus does not state the value of the Top Achiever Award.
Criteria in the funding FAQ
The funding FAQ lists these criteria for bursaries at Belgium Campus:
- Only South Africans may apply.
- All applicants are welcome, but preference goes to women, people of colour and persons with disabilities.
- The scholarship test and the financial relief form must both be completed.
- A Matric certificate endorsed for diploma or degree study.
- At least 50% for pure maths or maths literacy, and at least 50% for English, in the NSC.
- Accommodation is not included.
The same FAQ names the qualifications the funding covers: the Diploma in Information Technology, the Bachelor of Information Technology and the Bachelor of Computing. Postgraduate programmes such as the Master of Information Technology are not on that list.
What the 2027 fees look like
Because the awards are partial, the fee schedule matters. Belgium Campus’s 2027 tuition fee schedule (August 2026 version) lists these yearly tuition prices, with a once-only R5,000 registration fee for first-time students on top:
| Qualification | Once-off fee (5% discount, paid by 28 February) | Standard instalment fee |
|---|---|---|
| Diploma in IT (Software Development or Infrastructure), NQF 6 | R89,000 | R93,450 |
| Bachelor of IT, 3-year weekday degree, NQF 7 | R114,000 | R119,700 |
| Bachelor of Computing, 4-year degree, NQF 8 | R128,000 | R134,400 |
Other Belgium Campus funding routes
Financial relief. Complete the Credit Application Form and email a motivational letter to the Registrar at vanwyk.e@belgiumcampus.ac.za. Belgium Campus warns that incomplete applications will not be considered.
Corporate sponsorship. Tick the corporate sponsorship box during your application, which allows Belgium Campus to share your information with its industry partners, then email your CV, Matric certificate, motivational letter and ID copy to admissions@belgiumcampus.ac.za. You join a waiting list. The partners choose recipients on their own criteria and timing; Belgium Campus says it takes no part in that selection.
Student loans. Belgium Campus points students to Absa, FNB, Nedbank, Standard Bank and Capitec, and has partnered with Student Hero to help with loan applications. The Belgium Campus Bursary Fund, also on the funding page, is a fund that accepts public donations to support deserving students; the page does not give a separate application process for it.
Our guide to Belgium Campus admission requirements covers getting in. For outside funding, see information technology bursaries and bursaries that fund private colleges.
